In a nutshell: Cove Park is the best place to learn to surf in South Maui. It is also a wonderful beach of convenience for the local condos and residents.
Minuses: Small and close to the road.

Just at the south point of Kalama Park. Most commonly used for beginner surf lessons, many instructors are set up ready to go every day of the week. There is a hidden cove right next door that is better for swimming and beach (see kayak video below) The park is primarily go-to for most visitors for surf lessons. Full facilities at Kalama Park immediately adjacent.

Facilities (adjacent to beach): five sets of bathrooms, many picnic tables, two showers, two pavilions, BBQs, park area, one volleyball court, four tennis courts, four baseball fields, two basketball courts, playground, public outdoor roller rink & skate park. Whew!

Do we need reservations for surf lessons? We will be in Maui September 24- 29th. It will be three people in their twenties. Do you also rent out the surf boards they will need? We are flying in from Colorado .
