Paia Secret Beach
Last updated 17. May, 2009 by lilikoi.
Rating:

In a nutshell: If you like to get naked (or watch people getting naked) this is a good place to go. Relatively private and out of the main-flow of people, rarely anyone but folks who live here end up at this beach.
Minuses: People who would be better off keeping their clothes on.
Sound-bite: “Eh, Moonbow, can I borrow your organic hemp loincloth to make a quick pakalolo run?”
DETAILS:
Paia’s “Secret Beach” is a clothing optional beach between Paia Bay and Baldwin Cove. On …

Paia Bay
Last updated 30. Sep, 2010 by lilikoi.
Rating:

In a nutshell: Paia Bay is a destination if you are an accomplished boogie-boarder. A long, nice beach with an excellent near-shore surf break. Overall, this beach doesn’t have enough to attract most other visitors.
Minuses: The park and bathroom area can be dirty, and sometimes attract vagrant types.
Sound-bite: “Shreddin’ `em!”
DETAILS:
Paia Bay is a favorite for boogie-boarders and bodysurfers. The break is generally just a bit off shore and over head, so fins are a good idea. Definitely not a place to boogie-board unless …

Tavares Beach (aka Lamalani aka Blue Tile House Beach)
Last updated 28. Jan, 2011 by lilikoi.
Rating:

In a nutshell: Tavares Beach is a pretty, long, scenic sandy white beach with easy access and ample parking. Good for swimming, rock jumping, surfing and windsurfing. Virtually unknown to visitors, it is usually uncrowded (even sometimes empty) during the week. Tavares is a favorite among locals so weekends and holidays are crowded.
Minuses: Crowded on weekends and holidays. Some rocks in water. Occasionally swells bring massive influx of seaweed.
Sound-bite: “Blink and you’ll miss it.”
DETAILS:
Even though …

Kuau Cove – (Beach at Mama’s Fish House)
Last updated 03. Jun, 2011 by lilikoi.
Rating:

In a nutshell: Kuau cove is perfect for little ones and anyone that loves to explore tidepool sealife.
Minuses: Fully-clothed Mama’s patrons might make shy folks uncomfortable in their itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny-polkadot-bikini.
Sound-bite: “Honey, how much should we tip the valet?”
DETAILS:
A wonderfully scenic small white sand cove beach just past Paia, bordered by a coconut grove and chock full of tidepools.
Kuau Cove, which is commonly also called Mama’s Fish House Beach since most visitors experience this beach as a photo op prior to …

Honomanu Bay

Rating:

In a nutshell: A picturesque bay, and your first option for ocean goodness since Ho’okipa!
Minuses: Poor swimming and rocky beach.
Sound-bite: “See, honey, I told you getting a Jeep was going to be a practical necessity!”
This bay is nestled inside a dramatic, verdant valley that first reveals itself from the road between mile markers 12 & 13, and there are a couple of worthy lookouts to pull over and savor the view or snap a photo before you descend into the valley.
This is the …
