Expect to see a lively mix of patrons at eclectic Cafe Mambo. The open yet cozy dining area is casual and inviting. Seating is a mix of long benches with pillows, small tables and chairs and bar seating- creating a sort of boisterous and communal feeling. Locally created artwork is featured abundantly on the walls (and available for purchase), and give the eye plenty to take in while sipping on a Bikini Blonde or Top Shelf Margarita.
The prices are reasonable and fare ranges from breakfast burritos to lamb with cous cous. One of Cafe Mambo`s specialties, crispy duck with orange-soy marinade, can be found in several dishes including crispy duck burgers, fajitas and salad. The eclectic menu has plenty of options, including ample vegetarian choices.
Cafe Mambo also offers made-to-order Road to Hana picnic lunches (cooler included.) I often suggest that visitors time their Paia Town pass-through so they can enjoy breakfast while their lunch is being prepared and packed.
Some great breakfast options:
Hearty: breakfast burrito, quesadilla or turkey breakfast bagel; Decadent: Mambo pancakes- served with chocolate, maple syrup and whipped cream; Light: fresh fruit and smoothies.
Lunch and Dinner offerings expand with a mix of American, Spanish and Mediterranean influence (all with a Maui touch.) Tapas, salads, fajitas, stews and sandwiches range from the vegetarian "7 vegetable stew" to island-fresh fish fajitas. Local Maui Cattle Co. organic beef is featured in the Maui steak and blue cheese salad, fajitas and burgers. Oh - the "Mambo bacon cheeseburger" comes with a slice of frittata - a Spanish egg and potato omelet - which is a delicious addition!
They have locally crafted Maui Brewing Co. beer on tap (including seasonal offerings such as Oktoberfest.) Wine and cocktails are offered; margaritas are made with their own fresh juice mixer. Happy Hour is from 3-6 and Cafe Mambo features a .95 Happy Hour "Beer and a Burger" deal, perfectly timed for those just getting out of the water/off the beach.
Cafe Mambo also plans on bringing back Movie Night, a local favorite for the winter weekends to take in a flick while dining. Check their facebook page for updates
