First, the kind of guests who come to our site are attracted by Our Mission – our guests are respectful and interested in something much larger than party time or sitting at a resort sipping mai tai’s – in fact, they’re typically interested in the same things that you love about Maui.
Good Neighbors
Our Mission guides all of our methods and how we operate – including how we work with your vacation rental. We won’t tolerate owners who disrespect our island, their neighbors or their guests. If a guest or neighbor calls us to complain, we require an immediate appropriate response from owners to address the issue in order to remain listed in MauiGuidebook.com.
Meeting Everyone’s Needs
We speak with every guest – typically many times during the process of booking. We get to know them, and what they want. We also contact every guest personally after their departure to find out how their stay was. Our booking process is not automated – we take a hands-on approach, talking to our guests and finding out what they’re looking for out of their visit to our island. When we understand what the guest is looking for, we’re able to match them up with lodging that meets everyone’s needs.
Proven Methods Attract Respectful Guests
Several other aspects of our booking process are specifically designed to weed out less responsible folks. For example, we require a 20% non-refundable deposit immediately upon reserving the dates. We also obtain a signed and binding rental contract that communicates the rental properties “House Rules” including all of your expectations. Finally, we require an open-ended authorization on a credit card for security deposit, with specific penalties in the rental contracts that guarantee the less respectful guests won’t want to risk it. Since none of these requirements are standard on Maui, marginal guests quickly realize that our rentals are not for them, and find alternatives.
