In a nutshell: Waikamoi Nature Trail is an easy short-stop on the Road to Hana. Good for non-hikers. A nice quick-stop that many will appreciate.
Minuses: Not among the long list of “spectacular” on this road. No waterfall.
Sound-bite: “Worthwhile place to spend 20 minutes.”

DETAILS:
Okay, you know the quiet little shy kid in the family that no one realizes is there, but actually has far more to offer than people would give him credit for? Well, that is how it is for the Waikamoi Nature Trail. It is unassuming. It is right there on the road. You don’t need a guide to point you to it. It doesn’t have a nice waterfall (or any waterfall, for that matter.)

Waikamoi Nature Trail

You see a description like that, next to all the waterfalls, pools, and other-worldly stuff on the Road to Hana and you might just wonder, “why bother with it?”

Well, this small place has very nicely maintained trails, lots of wide, regular-sized graveled steps and it is really nice for anyone looking for short and easy walks that provide a surprisingly wide variety of plants and flowers. (There are even sporadic plaques identifying some of the flora.)

The sign reads: “QUIET – Trees at work”

The nature trails also have a few nice overlooks, benches, and even a couple of places with BBQ’s (these don’t get used often – if ever.) Best of all, most anyone in a wide-range of ages and physical conditions can easily hike the short loop trails. It is also a nice place to take a break for a snack (lunch, if you got started late), or just to stretch your legs and get out of the car.

Unassuming as it is, most folks will be satisfied stopping and spending 10-30-minutes of their precious Road to Hana excursion here.
